YOUR STOREFRONT IS YOUR #1 ADVERTISEMENT
" They drove past. They didn't stop. Your sign is why. "
Northwest LK has installed storefront signs for businesses ranging from single-location retailers to multi-site rollouts across Los Angeles and Orange County. Every project starts the same way: we visit your location, analyze the sightlines, and engineer a solution that makes you impossible to miss.
SIX TYPES OF STOREFRONT SIGNS
— WE BUILD THEM ALL
Most storefronts need more than one type of sign working together. Here's what we fabricate, and how each type contributes to your street presence:
Channel Letter Signs
Three-dimensional illuminated letters mounted to your facade. The most visible, most recognized storefront sign format. Available front-lit, backlit halo, or open-face. Works day and night. The anchor of any serious storefront identity.
Blade Signs
Signs that project perpendicularly from your building facade, visible to pedestrians walking along the street. Essential for businesses in multi-tenant buildings or indoor malls where the facade frontage is narrow. Often combined with channel letters for full street coverage.
Awning Signs
Custom-printed fabric or vinyl awnings that combine shade, branding, and storefront identity in one element. Particularly effective for restaurants, cafes, boutiques, and beauty businesses. Available illuminated or non-illuminated.
Window Graphics & Vinyl
Full-color, frosted, or perforated vinyl graphics applied to your storefront windows. Communicates your brand, products, hours, and promotions — turning passive glass into active marketing. Easily updated seasonally or for promotions.
Cabinet Signs
Illuminated rectangular sign boxes with a printed or acrylic face. Cost-effective for businesses requiring large-format illuminated signage. Common in strip malls, fast-food chains, and service businesses. Available single-face or double-face.
Monument & Post Signs
Ground-level freestanding signs placed at property entrances, parking lots, or roadside. Provides identification before customers even reach your building. Essential for businesses set back from the street, in business parks, or in locations with limited facade visibility.
04_ADVANTAGES WHY NORTHWEST LK?
We Survey
Before We Quote
Storefront sign pricing that's done remotely — from a photo or a rough description — almost always leads to surprises on installation day. We send our team to your location before we quote. We measure the facade, check the substrate, review electrical access, assess visibility angles from the street, and look up the sign code for your specific address. The quote you receive reflects reality.
We Know Every
Local Sign Code
Sign codes in Orange County and Los Angeles are not uniform — every city has its own rules about sign size, illumination, placement, and projection. Irvine is different from Anaheim. Santa Ana is different from Newport Beach. We've pulled permits across all of them. When we design your sign, it's designed to be approved — not redesigned after a city rejection.
Materials That
Last in SoCal
Southern California's climate — intense UV exposure, Santa Ana winds, and temperature swings — puts exterior signs under significant stress. We specify materials engineered for this environment: UV-stabilized acrylics, powder-coated aluminum, marine-grade hardware, and LED modules rated for outdoor Southern California conditions. Your sign looks as good in year five as it does on installation day.
Full-System
Thinking
A great storefront isn't just one sign. It's channel letters on the facade, a blade sign for pedestrian visibility, window graphics communicating your offer, and a monument sign at the parking lot entrance. We look at your entire street presence as a system and advise on what combination will give you the best return — for your specific location, footfall pattern, and budget.
THINK BEYOND THE SIGN
ABOVE THE DOOR
The businesses with the strongest street presence don't just have one sign — they have a coordinated system of signs that work together from every angle. Here's how we think about a complete storefront identity:
Road-Level ID
Monument sign or pylon sign at parking lot entrance or property edge. Visible from the road before customers turn in. Critical for businesses set back from the street.
Facade Presence
Channel letter signs or cabinet sign on the building facade. Your primary brand statement. Visible from across the street and from moving traffic.
Pedestrian Hook
Blade sign projecting from the facade. Catches pedestrian attention from along the sidewalk — especially important in dense retail corridors.
Window Communication
Window graphics and vinyl that communicate your brand, products, and hours. Turns every square foot of glass into marketing real estate.
Entry Experience
Door graphics and threshold signage that reinforce brand identity at the exact moment customers step inside — bridging exterior and interior branding.
Not every business needs all five layers. We'll tell you which ones matter most for your specific location — and which ones can wait until your next phase.
STOREFRONT SIGNS
FOR EVERY BUSINESS TYPE
Retail Stores
Stand out in strip malls, shopping centers, and high-street retail. Channel letters in your brand color — illuminated for evening traffic — are the difference between being found and being overlooked in a competitive retail corridor.
Restaurants & Food & Beverage
From fast-casual to fine dining, your storefront sets appetite expectations before customers open the door. Bold channel letters or warm-toned awning signs signal the dining experience inside. We've helped dozens of SoCal restaurants open with a storefront that fills tables on day one.
Medical, Dental & Healthcare
Patients use your exterior signage to find you, reassure themselves they're at the right place, and form a first impression of your practice's quality. Clean, professional, well-lit storefront signage is non-negotiable for any medical or dental practice.
Beauty, Wellness & Fitness
Your brand is aspirational. Your storefront should be too. Salons, spas, gyms, and wellness studios consistently use bold illuminated signage to signal the transformation experience customers can expect inside.
Automotive & Auto Services
High-traffic locations, large facades, and customers making quick decisions from moving vehicles. Auto dealerships, car washes, and service centers need high-output illuminated signage designed for fast-moving road visibility.
Professional Services
Insurance offices, real estate brokerages, financial advisors, and law firms benefit from a storefront that communicates credibility and permanence. Clean dimensional lettering and professional lighting signal: we've been here, and we'll be here.

STOREFRONT SIGN FAQs
How much does a storefront sign cost in Southern California?
Storefront sign costs vary by type, size, and complexity. General ranges for installed projects in LA and Orange County: · Window vinyl graphics: $400–$1,500 · Cabinet / lightbox sign: $1,500–$4,000 · Channel letter sign (small–medium business): $3,000–$12,000 · Blade sign: $1,500–$4,500 · Awning with graphics: $2,000–$6,000 · Monument sign: $3,500–$15,000+ Most storefront projects combine 2–3 elements. We provide a full itemized quote after our free on-site survey — so you know exactly what you’re getting before you commit.
Do I need my landlord's approval before installing a storefront sign?
In most cases, yes. The majority of commercial leases in Southern California require tenant sign approval from the landlord or property management before installation. Many properties also have a Sign Criteria document specifying size limits, approved sign types, and placement rules. We’re experienced in working within landlord sign criteria — and we can review your lease or sign criteria document to advise on what’s permissible before we design.
We're opening a new location — how far in advance should we start the sign process?
For a grand opening, we recommend starting the sign process at least 6–8 weeks before your target opening date — and 10–12 weeks if your sign will require a city permit (which most illuminated exterior signs do). Here’s why: design and landlord approval typically takes 1–2 weeks. Permit processing in LA and OC takes 1–3 weeks. Fabrication takes 1–2 weeks. Installation scheduling adds a few more days. If any step runs long, you have buffer. Call us as early as possible. We can map out a realistic timeline at your first consultation.
Can you match our franchise or corporate brand standards?
Yes — brand standards compliance is a core part of our service for multi-location operators. Send us your brand standards manual, logo files, and Pantone color specifications, and we will fabricate to exact specification. We’ve executed storefront sign programs for multi-site retail operators, franchise groups, and national brands opening Southern California locations.
What happens if my sign gets damaged after installation?
All signs we install come with a workmanship warranty. For material defects and component failures, we stand behind our fabrication. We also offer ongoing sign maintenance and repair services — including LED replacement, face panel repair, electrical servicing, and full sign refurbishment. If something goes wrong after installation, call us. We’re based in Irvine and serve the entire Southern California region.
